Erectile Dysfunction, also known as ED or simply 'erection problems', means a problem in getting and/or keeping an erection that is satisfactory for sex. When this happens regularly and has gone on for several months, a man might be diagnosed with ED.
Erectile function is not just sex related. Today it's recognized an important part of a man's overall well-being and the condition is quite common. About 50% of men over the age of 40 will experience erection difficulties at some time.
Erection problems can be the result of a medical condition that you may or may not yet know about. That's why even though some men may find sex and ED difficult topics to talk about, it's important to discuss any concerns with a doctor.
Cialis is a prescription medicine for men with ED.
Cialis® Daily† is a lower dose (5mg) tablet which is taken every day. It is clinically proven to work round the clock between doses so you can be confident you'll be able to engage in sexual activity at any time you choose. You won't get an erection by just taking a tablet, you must be sexually excited for Cialis to work, and after sex your erection will go away as normal.
Cialis® 36Hour* is the only ED treatment clinically proven to work for up to 36 hours. With sexual stimulation most men are able to get an erection within 30 minutes after taking the tablet. You won't get an erection by just taking a tablet, you must be sexually excited for Cialis to work, and after sex your erection will go away as normal.
Cialis® Daily† is best taken at about the same time every day, much like many other medicines. If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember on that day, but only take 1 tablet each day. Skipping a dose may result in the treatment not working as well as expected. (If a dose is forgotten, it can be taken when remembered, but no more than one dose a day should be taken). You don't need to plan around meals or avoid high-fat foods, and you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer as Cialis is not affected by food or alcohol. Excessive alcohol can impair sexual performance. Take Cialis Daily exactly as prescribed by your doctor. (Maximum recommended daily dose 5mg). Cialis® 36 Hour* is a small tablet that can be taken at any time. As Cialis is not affected by food so you won't need to plan around meals or avoid high-fat foods and you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer. Excessive alcohol may impair sexual performance If you are using Cialis 36Hour, consider: - Taking Cialis the evening before if you prefer have sex in the morning.
- Taking Cialis in the morning if you think intimacy is likely later in the day, the evening or even early the next morning.
- Talking with your partner about what suits you both.
Every couple is different, so initially it may take a little time to decide what suits you best. With Cialis you can relax, confident that you have up to 36 hours to respond to your partner. Take Cialis 36Hour exactly as prescribed by your doctor. (Maximum recommended daily dose is 20mg).
Both Cialis® 36Hour*and Cialis® Daily† have been shown to improve erectile function in most men, including those with mild, moderate or severe ED. In clinical trials, both Cialis 36Hour and Cialis Daily improved: - Confidence in getting and maintaining an erection
- Satisfaction with the hardness of erection
- Ability to maintain erections for successful sexual intercourse
- Sexual satisfaction
Cialis® is different to other oral ED medicines because Cialis® 36Hour* is the only treatment that works for up to 36 hours and Cialis® Daily†, when taken every day, works continuously between doses.
Choose the Cialis option that's best for you and you and your partner can relax, enjoy life and choose the best time for intimacy. With Cialis, you don't need to plan around meals or avoid high-fat foods because the absorption of Cialis is not affected by food.
When taken everyday, Cialis Daily works in most men on the second day of treatment, but reaches full effect by day 5.
Skipping a dose may result in the treatment not working as well as expected. (If a dose is forgotten, it can be taken when remembered, but no more than one dose a day should be taken).
(Maximum recommended daily dose is 5mg)
Most men are happy with Cialis 36Hour from the first or second time they take it. However, because sex is an emotional experience and every couple is different, initially it may take a little time to achieve the full benefit. Don't just try Cialis 36Hour once. If your doctor has given you a free sample of Cialis 36Hour, make sure you also have a prescription. Cialis 36Hour is available in a 4 pack and Value 8 pack.
The good thing about Cialis 36Hour is that you can relax and let sex happen naturally.
(Maximum recommended daily dose is 20mg)
Only your doctor can determine if Cialis® is right for you. Cialis is not for everyone. Men who take nitrates or men who have been told by their doctor to avoid sexual activity because of health problems should not take Cialis. Additional safety informationIn rare instances, men taking prescription ED tablets (including Cialis) reported a sudden decrease or loss of vision. If you have any concerns talk to your doctor. For more information about vision problems in men taking ED medicines, please see question below.
Clinical studies were conducted among men with ED and type 1 or type 2 diabetes. For most men in these studies, Cialis® improved overall erectile function and the ability to maintain erections for successful sexual intercourse. Individual results may vary.
All medicines have side effects, in clinical trials, the most common side effects with Cialis® were headache, upset stomach, backache, muscle aches, flushing or a blocked nose. Most men weren't bothered by the side effects enough to stop taking Cialis.
In rare instances, men taking prescription ED tablets (including Cialis) reported a sudden decrease or loss of vision. If you have any concerns talk to your doctor.
Sexual activity carries a potential heart risk for men who have recently had a heart attack or stroke, or who have heart disease. Talk to your doctor about whether your heart is healthy enough for sexual activity and the best treatment choices for you. Additional safety information
You should not take Cialis® if you are taking nitrates (spray, patches or tablets), which are used to treat heart conditions. Some medicines and Cialis may react with each other. This is particularly important if you are being treated with: certain alpha1 blockers, such as doxazosin (used to treat prostate problems and hypertension), rifampicin (an antibiotic), ketoconazole or itraconazole (used against fungal infections), erythromycin (an antibiotic) or protease inhibitors (HIV treatments) Additional safety information
Cialis® only works with sexual stimulation. When you have had sex your erection will go away normally. Priapism, a prolonged erection, is a rare potential side effect of all prescription ED medicines. If by chance you have a prolonged erection, lasting more than 4 hours, seek immediate medical attention. Additional safety informationNote: the maximum dose of Cialis® 36Hour* is 20mg per day and Cialis® Daily† 5mg per day.
You have to be sexually excited for either Cialis® 36Hour* or Cialis® Daily† to work. You will not get an erection just by taking Cialis® without sexual stimulation.
Cialis® is designed to be taken in a single 5mg, 10mg or 20 mg dose as prescribed by your doctor. Cutting pills is not recommended and may affect your satisfaction with the result.
No. Cialis® is for men only.
Conditions leading to a sudden decrease or loss of vision, including a condition called NAION, have been rarely reported in patients taking PDE5 inhibitors (oral ED medicines, including Cialis®). It is not possible to determine whether these cases are related directly to these medicines, to underlying conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, to a combination of these factors, or to other factors.
What is NAION?
NAION stands for non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. NAION is a condition in which the blood supply to the nerve that carries signals from the back of the eye to the brain is decreased. This is a rare but serious condition as it may lead to permanent loss of vision, including blindness.
What causes NAION?
The exact cause of NAION is unknown. NAION is more likely to occur in persons with the following conditions:
- Previous history of NAION
- Older age (greater than 50 years)
- Diabetes mellitus
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- High cholesterol
- Cigarette smoking
- A variation in the structure of the nerve that carries signals from the eye
There are other conditions that may be associated with NAION. Please talk to your health care professional.
How common is NAION?
NAION is a rare condition with 2-10 cases per 100,000 people per year in those over 50 years of age.
What are the symptoms of NAION?
Any sudden decrease or loss of vision may be a symptom of NAION. This may first be noticed after a person awakens from sleep. There is usually no pain associated with NAION.
What should I do if I have a sudden decrease or loss of vision?
If you experience a sudden decrease or loss of vision, stop taking any oral ED medication, including CIALIS, and call a doctor right away.
If I am being prescribed Cialis for the first time, should I tell my doctor about any previous instance(s) of sudden decrease in vision?
As for any medicine, it is very important for you to tell your doctor about all your medical problems, including those in the past. Also, tell your doctor about all medications you're taking. If you have had NAION in one eye, you have a greater likelihood of getting it in the other eye. Only your doctor can determine if Cialis is right for you Additional safety information
